ENSEMBLE OFFRANDES
SECOND BOOK OF MADRIGALS

Following on from a first Book of Madrigals (2020-2021), already inspired by the poems of Dino Campana, this Second Book explores the theatricality of voices and bodies based on this literally hallucinatory poetry. It is also an exploration of the madrigal tradition, of the interplay of one, two, three, four or five voices – here interwoven with an electroacoustic voice developed by Christophe Havard. The latter, incorporating both interviews with the team and recordings from elsewhere, creates an ‘echo chamber’ for the polyphonic assaults of the five a cappella voices.

GENARÍN investigation-opera

Co-production Ensemble Offrandes – La Fonderie, Le Mans – Les Moulins de Paillard
A hybrid of a chamber opera for two singers and four musicians and an investigation conducted by an actress, Genarín is a reflection, both heavy and light, on the conflicts that arise from religion or around religion. Based on the book by Julio Llamazares (The Burial of Genarín) and words collected during interviews and vox pops, this creation brings together the local (a counter-procession celebrated for almost a century in the city of León, in northern Spain) and the universal (the conflictual relations between religion, its followers and its opponents).
